Marsha Kocurek, President, Fundraising Committee chair  

Marsha Lynne Broesche Kocurek is the president of the Caldwell Education and Leadership Foundation.  She received her A.A. and A.S. from Blinn College, B.S. from Texas A&M University, M.S. in Agricultural Communication from Oklahoma State University, and a M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorder from Texas Woman’s University.  She worked for the Texas Agricultural Extension Service for three years, before returning to school to become a speech therapist.  After working for 7 years for Lexington ISD, she went to work with her husband at Summit Pump and Safety in Caldwell.  Education has been a life-long passion for Marsha.  She has numerous family members who are involved in education, including her parents who dedicated most of their lives to the public education system.  In addition to working with the foundation, Marsha is involved in the Caldwell Elementary School PTO, Burleson County Go Texan, Burleson County Fair Pet Show, Deanville Memorial Park Association, Deanville Heritage Foundation, Hermann Sons-Life Deanville, Dime Box Lions Club, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Deanville, and Burleson County Little League.  In her spare time, Marsha spends time with her husband Blake and children, Bailen and Marley.  She also has several pets including 5 dogs, 2 cats, and a herd of cows to occupy her free time.  To contact Marsha, email her at

Krista Zwernemann, Vice President, Alumni Committee Chair 

Krista Lynn Muzny Zwernemann was raised in Caldwell, Texas and is proud to call herself a Caldwell Hornet. She was a member of the 2000 State Championship Volleyball team and graduated Valedictorian from Caldwell High School in 2003.  After high school, she attended Texas A&M University to complete her pre-requisite courses for pharmacy school. In 2005, she moved to Austin to attend pharmacy school at The University of Texas. While there, she was a member of the Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International group. She completed her rotations in San Antonio, and graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas at Austin in conjunction with The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2009. Upon graduation, she returned to Caldwell and is delighted to be serving the community as their local Brookshire Brother’s Pharmacist. Krista is married to Chad Zwernemann and together they have three daughters. They are members of the Cooks Point Brethren Church. Her pastimes include spending time with her family and trying out new recipes for playdough or slime with her daughters. Jill Becka, Secretary

Jill Becka is a native of Bryan, Texas who moved to Caldwell with her family in December 2015. She attended Texas A&M University and works as a Business Development Specialist at Copy Corner in College Station, Texas. She is married to Grant Becka and has two daughters and a son. With three children attending Caldwell schools, she is excited to be part of the opportunities and innovation the foundation will present for the district. To contact Jill, email her at

Rebecca Gardner, Treasurer, investment Committee Chair 

Rebecca graduated from Caldwell High School in 1996 after transferring in 1994.  She holds a B.B.A. in Finance from Mays Business School, Texas A&M University, ‘12. Rebecca and her children returned to the Caldwell area in 2016.  She is currently the Controller for Four PZ Pizza, Inc. and was previously an Institutional Financial Analyst for Morgan Stanley’s institutional division, Greystone Consulting.  While at Greystone, Rebecca’s duties included portfolio analysis and construction, quarterly performance reporting, and manager/fund research for foundations, endowments and 401(k) plans.  Previously, Rebecca’s job duties also included researching and writing State and Federal grant proposals.  Kristi Splawn, RN, BSN, Grant Committee Chair 

Kristi Splawn was raised in Tecumseh, Oklahoma and moved to Caldwell, Texas in 2016. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 2003, Seminole State College in 2005 and married her husband Chris Splawn in the summer of 2005. After traveling with her husband for several years, she returned home to pursue her passion for nursing. In 2012, she graduated from East Central University with her BSN. Kristi is currently working at CHI St. Joseph in the local emergency room. Makala Gerland, Director, Scholarship Committee Chair

Makala Gerland was born and raised in Quitman, Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M in 2007 with a B.B.A in Management from Mays Business School. Makala is the President of JackRabbit Manufacturing & PowderCoating; a company she runs with her husband, Devin. Before stepping into that position, Makala was a teacher and was employed by Caldwell ISD from 2014 - 2016. The couple moved their family to Caldwell in 2013 in order to raise their family in a community similar to the ones they were raised in. Devin and Makala have three children. She sees serving on the board of directors as an opportunity to give back to a profession she loved.
